As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with knowledge of basic safety considerations
Proficient in deep water and capable of using watercraft like a surfboard, paddleboard, or kayak
Able to pass lifeguard prerequisite exam, including a 550-meter open water swim and treading water for 2 minutes without using hands
Previous experience working with or teaching children is preferred
Red Cross or WSI certification is a plus but not required
Must be at least 18 years of age
